Dimuth Karunaratne

From his early days he had shown class as a top order Batsman and lived to that quality of Batsmanship right up to now That's Dimuth the Stylish left handed opening Bat and the new find of Sri Lanka Cricket. Dimuth like Angelo played for College for five years but was unfortunate not to captain the College team, as a Under 13 Cricketer he showed lot of promise and that promise have earned him a call for National duty. Dimuth holds many Josephian records in Batting together with his Captain Ruwantha Fernandopulle they put on 267 run for the 1st wicket against Trinity, and in the Big Match 2007 he scored 131 n.o before lunch and ultimately got out for 133 and subsequently this score was broken by Hareen Silva when he got 144 not out two year later. He has been a prolific scorer and has many centuries to his credit, and was denied a century once by one run when umpires called off play early.

After leaving school he had a season with Colombo Colts Cricket Club and won the Best Batsman trophy in the Under 23 tournament and thereafter crossed over to Sinhalese Sports Club where he has gone from strength to strength.

He represented the Sri Lanka Under 19 and from then onwards has never looked back, he was in the Sri Lanka "A" team tour of Australia in 2010 and fared brilliantly and coming back to Sri Lanka was up against the South African "A" team where he and Dinesh Chandimal figured in a massive 369 partnership and followed it up with another Century against Pakistan in the Triangular Tournament. It would have been his proudest moment when he got his call from the Chairman of the Selectors telling him to his baggage ready to go to England with the Sri Lanka team.
